Cork Touch: A Nuisance Spell for Pathfinder
In the hands of a skilled warrior, even a length of wood is a deadly weapon, but not all wood is created equal. For every trusty oaken bokken or improvised club made from an antique teak table leg, there is some damned fool trying to defend himself with a balsa wood two-by-four.
In the hands of a skilled warrior, even a length of wood is a deadly weapon, but not all wood is created equal. For every trusty oaken bokken or improvised club made from an antique teak table leg, there is some damned fool trying to defend himself with a balsa wood two-by-four. When wood is in your way, be it the farming implements of revolting peasants or the locked door to a mountain fastness, a simple casting of cork touch doesn't get rid of the problem, but it does transform it into something softer.
CORK BAT
School transmutation; Level druid 2, sorcerer/wizard 3, witch 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, DF or M (a handful of cork shavings)
Range touch
Target one non-magical wooden object or wooden creature
Duration 1 round per level.
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no
Any wooden item you touch during the spell's duration transforms into a soft, cork-like material. The object becomes slightly lighter, but otherwise appears unchanged (a Perception skill check vs. the DC of this spell detects the transformation). Objects transformed by this spell have their HP and hardness halved. If cast upon an object larger than a standard wooden door, this spell can effect 1 cubic foot of wood per caster level.
Wooden weapons transformed by this spell inflict half damage.
Against a wooden creature (e.g. scarecrow, treant, wood golem, etc.), this spell instantly deals 2d6 points of damage +1 per caster level (maximum +13) and halves the creature's natural armor bonus for 1 round. Touching a hostile wooden creature or a wooden weapon wielded by a hostile NPC requires a melee touch attack. You may make one such melee touch attack per round.
