Out of all the human mutants that have been encountered since the end of the final wars, one particular group seems to be spreading across the globe at a startling rate. No one has been able to explain the sudden arrival and nearly exponential growth of this particular species of mutant human, although rumor has spread among the wastes that they are from an alternate dimension, where toxins and natural mutation – not war – caused humanity to devolve into these monsters.

Physically these creatures appear to be somewhat smaller than the average human. They are hairless and have mouths filled with double rows of razor-like teeth. The creatures are very strong and incredibly fast, which allowed them to become apex predators in many of the lands they now haunt.

There is one serious drawback which has kept these monsters from becoming a serious threat – they are not as intelligent as most regular humans, being little more than animals, and despite their speed and agility, they are not all that tough.

They run in packs, much like wolves do, and are led by an alpha male. He gets to eat first, choose the choicest bits of flesh, and his pick of the females. They hunt by scent, sound and sight, tracking prey and then splitting up so that they can flank possible food and come at it from all sides at once.

It is next to tell the difference between sexes. Females appear like the males and do not have mammary glands.  Even the males appear to be without penises but this is because when not used for urinating or mating, it is kept inside the pelvic region, away from potential harm.

When it comes to procreating, the strongest and most vicious males get their choices of the females. Even among the females there is always a hierarchy and more often than not the top of this social standing will demand the males mate with her only. This does lead to conflict between the males and females, which can often in turn lead to the male if he is defeated by the female to having to fend off those who want his position.

After sex has occurred, which is likewise violent, the female will gestate for nine months and give birth to a single offspring. The child, like many animals, is born helpless and defenseless and all females, not just the mother, watch over it and care for it, protecting it from all possible harm. If the female mated with several different males (they do tend to be promiscuous, and enjoy violent sex more than the males, amazingly enough), and the supposed father cannot detect his scent on the child, he will be able to determine who the actual father is and this leads to the offenders death, or there being a new alpha. Occasionally the male will simply try to capture the child and eat it, which is why the females band together to protect it.

The creatures are carnivores, and as such they are also considered to be cannibalistic in nature, although they do not have to consume the meat of their own kind in order to survive – they just prefer to.

People have attempted to communicate with these creatures but they either don’t understand, or simply don’t care. They are considered to be apex predators (at least in their own minds) and they view all others as prey.

Mutations: Aberrant form (natural weapons), bizarre appearance (hairless), increased hearing, smell, quickness.
