5th Edition D&D 'Illusion' Spells

While developing 5th Edition D&D material for my Skirmisher Publishing, I found myself wishing I had a list of all the Illusion spells from the Player's Handbook, and so I went ahead and created one! I figured other people might find such a list useful and have, accordingly, posted it here twice, once with the spells simply in alphabetical order and once with them organized by level. I have also included a 5E reboot of a classic spell, Gaze Reflection, which I rewrote for use in my own games. Be sure to also check out my lists of 5th Edition D&D "Abjuration" Spells5th Edition D&D "Divination" Spells5th Edition D&D "Ritual" Spells, and 5th Edition D&D "Necromancy" Spells!

NEW SPELL

Gaze Reflection

1st-level illusion

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 30 feet

Components: V, S

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

This spell creates a perfect mirror that can be positioned anywhere within casting range. This mirror can be used to defend against the gaze of creatures with dangerous eyes, such as basilisks, medusae, and vampires, and to reflect it back against them (requiring them to make saving throws to avoid its effects if they are vulnerable to them).

This spell can also be used to reflect spells that manifest in the form of rays. If the spell slot used to cast Gaze Reflection is at least equal to that of a ray spell being cast through the area where the magical mirror can be positioned, the caster can use a bonus action to try to interpose it in front of the ray. Doing so will grant advantage on saving throws against the ray attack or impose disadvantage on attack rolls made to hit with it.
