Two Related and Useful Items for the Dangerous Journeys: Advanced MYTHUS Fantasy Role-Playing System

This time, continuing with the Dangerous Journeys theme, I wanted to present two related and useful items that I designed. The first are Heroic Persona sheets for the Advanced Mythus game. I designed these because (IMHO) the HP Sheets that come with the game are woefully derisory. There is just no way they could be useful in creating an Advanced Heroic Persona. The main and most common way for someone to learn a new RPG is to roll up a character; or in this case, an HP. Not having an organized template for that is difficult and somewhat misleading. So I created something that was more useful to my Players and I.The second is a step by step list with page references for creating an Advanced Mythus HP. Advanced Mythus Heroic Persona creation is the most time consuming thing you will ever do in the game other then play it. In fact, it has been said by many people to be one of the longest and detailed character generation systems in any RPG. I believe this to be true. When I started rolling up HPs to have pre-generated HPs for conventions, I quickly found a system that prevented backtracking, included all of the options, and saved time by being succinct. Here are the Advanced Mythus HP sheets I made-https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=7278f380a26ee169#cid=7278F380A26EE169&id=7278F380A26EE169%211371When I converted them to PDF format, I left plenty of margin space for Players to write temporary session notes. (In addition, if you do not print them out back to back, you can use the backs too.)Most of the role-playing information is to be recorded at the top of the first sheet. Below that is recorded frequently used information. i.e. Traits, Categories, Attributes, Avoidance Numbers, Magickal Items, and Money.Page 2 is for armour and movement. It is designed to track armour piece by piece, but can be used for average armour tracking as well.Page 3 provides forms for all types of weapons and formulas for initiative by weapon. The formula is designed for the “30 beat” Critical Turn System as described by Gary Gygax in Mythic Masters Magazine. If you do not use this system simply, ignore it. Here is also a handy Speed Factor Table which is compatible with the “30 beat” Critical Turn System, and a Strike Location Table for Front/Rear. Finally, there are areas to record your HPs Doge Factor and PR Rating.Page 4 is for recording K/S Areas, Sub-Areas, and their STEEP.Page 5 gives a place to record equipment and its weight. There is also a place to keep track of encumbrance vs. movement. There is no official method of keeping track of encumbrance in the Dangerous Journeys system. I simply use the system from the 1st ED Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game system, but instead of units of encumbrance being measured by the term “Gold Pieces” (GP) I use Encumbrance Factors (EF). Therefore, the numbers to use in the blanks are 350, 700, 1050, and 1050+ as per Pg. 101-102 in the AD&D Players Handbook.Using ‘Appendix G: Converting from Other Systems to Heroic Personas’ in the Mythus Core Book and the ‘Strength Table II’ on Pg. 9 of the Players Handbook, I have come up with an ‘Encumbrance Bonus Due To Physical Muscular Power Table’. I may post it, but until then I suggest you make your own, it is easy.Page 6 is the place to record all information on Heka and Castings. There are charts for Base and Readied casting times, Heka Costs by Casting Grade, Heka Recovery Time, and a Time Unit Table. This list is for the Dangerous Journeys: Advanced MYTHUS Fantasy Role-Playing System. A revised systematic list with page numbers, though I did not list page numbers for the Mythic Masters Magazine entrees because there are two different versions with different page listings.A Forty-two Steps checklist for the creation of a Dangerous Journeys: Advanced MYTHUS Heroic Persona.
