Special Abilities

Limited Flight (Ex): The Splox has vestigial wings, and as such, it can use the wings to ‘hop’, with limited flight. This allows the creature to bypass 30 ft. of rough terrain, and allows it to change altitude up to 30 ft., and finally it can cross chasms, pits or other such obstacles as long as they are no more than 30 ft. across.

Slam (Ex): As a full round action, the Splox can charge and slam any target within its movement radius. This requires a successful melee attack, and if it succeeds, the target takes 1d4+2 B damage. At the same time, the target must make a Fort save (DC 10) or become staggered for 1d3 rounds.

These creatures are large insects found on many planets. They are scavengers and work together in small packs. Never found alone, they work together in order to attempt to overwhelm ‘food’, taking full advantage of flanking.

They possess small vestigial wings, which allow them limited flight, making them quite agile and able to cross difficult terrain and other obstacles.

Being omnivorous, they will eat anything they find, be it living flesh, carrion, plant, it does not matter, as long as they can consume it.

Finally, despite their exoskeletons, they are able to contort their shape, allowing them to pass through openings that are no smaller than 6 inches. This means that they can often infiltrate areas that people believe are secure against such intrusions, often taking advantage of air ducts and other such locations on ships and in buildings.

When engaged in combat, as stated, they will attempt to flank an enemy target, although often one or two will attempt to slam into the target first, throwing the target off kilter and making it easier to attack. They are also more resilient to energy-based attacks, but do not enjoy any damage reduction.
