Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a wizard)

This fez made of rich red velvet has a ring of arcane runes stitched into its brim and an fiery agate bead hanging from its tassel. The runes glow faintly when worn by the one to which the fez is attuned. When worn by and attuned to a wizard during the hour in which spells are prepared, the fez grants the wizard the ability to prepare one additional spell. The level of this additional spell can by no higher than half the maximum level the wizard can cast (rounded up). If the wizard loses attunement to the fez before casting this additional spell, the spell is lost.

The very rare wondrous item the fez of deeper study grants the wizard a an additional spell with a level up to the maximum level the wizard can cast, or two spells with a maximum level up to half the maximum level the wizard can cast (rounded up).
