An Idea for a Mutation - Retrograde or Version -1.0

The mutation Devolution has existed in Gamma World for a long time and either removes mutations or causes a pure strain human to be devolved into a cave man. A couple days ago I had the light bulb- why not apply this to technology? One could turn rifles into bows or robots into toasters or gauntlets. The exact mechanics I am going to leave up to you because there are so many different ways of possibly using this. Does a laser rifle become a sling or a flashlight? Either are valid interpretations and it is up to the GM's style (and imagination) to decide which is better for a specific campaign or setting.

I have asked a few people for possible names and the best two are Retrograde and Version -1.0.

So what do you think -- would you use this as a mutation or spell in your games?
