Special Abilities

Armor Shield (Ex): When the unit is engaged in combat, it can close a heavy shield across its vital and vulnerable sensor suite. This is a move action, and when it uses this, the unit gains a DR 10 against all attacks except energy-based attacks. When it uses this shield, its perception drops to +0. Note that anyone behind the unit can bypass this shielding, and inflict normal damage.

Call Skynet units (Ex): As a full round action, the armored spider can send out a signal to any Skynet units that are within 1000 ft. of the unit. Generally this is used to call additional armored spiders, flying scouts, and low-end terminator units, but it can also call in up to 3 T-800 units. The GM will have the final say in how many and what type of units the unit will call, but they will always arrive within 2d4+2 rounds.

Electrical Burst (Ex): As a full round action, the unit can unleash a burst of electrical energy. This has a radius of 20 ft. and inflicts 2d8+4 points of electrical damage. A Ref save (DC 13) results in half damage. It can use this ability only once every 3 rounds.

Although not as numerous as the Spider Scout, Skynet built these units to work hand-in-hand with the much smaller units. They act as heavy scouts, travelling in locations where scouts traverse, but are typically found on the outside of ruins. These units do not have quite the same ability to get into small locations as the other spiders.

They are also used quite extensively in combat, since they have a built-in shield which can greatly reduce the amount of damage they take from most of the conventional weapons used by the resistance.

Physically they are easily double the size of the spider scout, and other than having four legs for locomotion, and the same type of sensor array, they bear little resemblance to the other units. One aspect that they do share in common is the programming, and the ability to call in other types of Skynet units if a battle is proving to be more than they can handle.

Typically when they are working with the much smaller spider scouts, they stay near, usually at the entrances of structures the smaller units are infiltrating and inspecting, often taking cover in the ruins in order to ambush any resistance fighters scouts might end up flushing out.

When engaging in combat, the unit can use powerful pincers if a target is close enough, or it can use a pair of autocannons mounted on arms, which can swivel around the body. Finally like the spider scout, the unit can generate a powerful electrical burst, which can be quite effective against resistance fighters that are too close for comfort, or when a small group is foolish enough to get within the units effective range.
