Special Abilities

Fire Healing (Su): If anyone uses a fire-based attack on the creature, not only is it immune, it will automatically heal any damage it has sustained on a 1 for 1 basis. So if the creature has taken 10 points of damage, and someone shoots it with a laser for 5 points, it automatically heals 5 hit points of damage.

Heat Aura (Ex): The air around a heated silacoid is superheated by the molten core of the creature. As such, anyone coming within 5 feet of the creature will automatically take 1d6 points of fire damage. Other Silacoid are immune to this effect, and it will not heal them.

Vulnerability to cold (Ex): The creature takes double damage from cold-based attacks, and if it takes at least 5 points of cold damage (cumulative), the speed is reduced to 15 ft. per round until it is fully healed.

Silacoids are small puddles of a strange slime that is semi-liquid on the outside, and has a superheated core. The creature is completely mindless, and is sent out to cause as much damage and terror as possible by the aliens.

The average creature is about 3 feet in diameter and weighs around 50 pounds. The outer skin of the creature looks almost organic, and glows a bright reddish-pink. There are patches of what appear to be solid matter, which constantly moves as the creature is moving, never appearing to stay in a single place. Waves of heat emanate from the creature, which can be seen even in the brightest of light. It moves shockingly fast, and those who have seen it say it has similarities to lava flows.

Being in close proximity to the creature can cause wood, cloth and other flammable material to burst into flame by it simply passing by.

If it engages in combat, the creature will strike at opponents with a pseudopod, bashing them and inflicting not only bash damage, but if they are close enough to strike, the target is likewise close enough to take the damage from the heat radiating from the body. It is not unknown for the creature to attempt to crawl onto a target and cling to them, using their natural heat to ignite clothing and items carried. This is in fact a favorite tactic of the mindless creature when they are used against civilians and on terror missions.

They are also often employed with other alien forces. They provide a nasty surprise and a serious distraction to the enemy forces.

Also, the creatures do not take damage from fire-based attacks; instead if they have sustained injury, fire will actually heal them.

The one major vulnerability these creatures possess is when it comes to cold. It will kill them quickly, and if they take enough damage but are not killed, their bodies begin to solidify and it greatly slows them down.
