Special Abilities

Hardened Survivor (Ex): The Infiltration arachnid is completely immune to poisons and radiation, and it is able to withstand extreme conditions, even utter vacuum. Whenever the beast must make a saving Fortitude saving throw when dealing with environmental conditions, it gains a +10.

Mimic (Ex): The Infiltration arachnid has the ability to somewhat mimic a humanoid it has encountered. By ingesting part of the victim, the Infiltration arachnid is able to take on a few basic traits of the victim. It can morph its head to appear like that of the victim, and it can speak – or rather parrot – simple phrases in the victim’s own voice. As such the Infiltration arachnid gains a +10 to disguise and +5 to bluff when dealing with others, as long as its body is covered by powered armor. It is a full round action to consume flesh of the victim, and then 1d4 rounds for the creature to absorb the DNA so it can mimic it. The Infiltration arachnid can only use the genetic material of a single individual at one time, and it can retain the face of that victim indefinitely, although it can choose to revert to its regular features at any time. This is a full round action for the creature to do so.

Strength limitation bypass (Ex): Normally powered armor has a strength limitation, which states that even if the wearer is stronger than the strength provided by the armor, it is limited to the armors strength. This creature is able to bypass this and use its own natural strength instead.

Weapon and Armor proficiency (Ex): The arachnid has the uncanny ability to use any type of armor or weapon it encounters, and as such it does not need to have the appropriate proficiency in order to do so.

As the war against all sentient life continues, the Arachnid army has come up with a plethora of new and deadly kinds of warriors to send against the various races they are trying to destroy. They have attempted to use Puppeteers to limited success, and have come up with a new type of Arachnid, building on what they have learned from the Puppeteers.

Thus the Infiltration Arachnid was conceived. This creature is smaller than most of the front-line troops, being man sized. It is still shockingly strong, but the creature’s natural weapons are not quite as deadly as those of other types. The natural armor is softer than the exoskeleton of the other arachnids, and is quite flexible. It is usually a light tan or green in coloration. The creature has two long limbs which replace the standard claws with more hand-like appendages. These are fully capable of using any medium or large-sized weapon. They have two smaller limbs with wicked claws, and another two growing from the back of the creature. These typically are not used in combat, and it is assumed they are usually only employed when the creature is wearing powered armor.

The head is distinctly beetle-like, with for small ‘tusks’ around the mouth. It has a series of 8 eyes running parallel down the center of the ‘head’. The flesh of the head itself is pink, and very soft and malleable. This allows the creature to change its features, including the tusks, to appear human or humanoid.

As the name implies, the creature uses tactics that are all but unheard of when it comes to the other Arachnids. Unlike the majority of other Arachnids, this creature is intelligent, and is capable of thought and even speech. Fully capable of using its natural weapons, the creature prefers to attack using stealth, or by allowing the other arachnids to defeat the enemy. If the enemy was using powered armor, the Infiltration Arachnids will strip the body out, after sampling the DNA. They will then reshape their bodies in order to wear the armor, and change their heads to match the faces of the deceased.

Using the armor, faces, voices and weapons of the deceased, the creatures will then make their way to the enemy lines. They will always approach in the blood covered combat-ravaged armor, looking worse for wear, but more often than not the enemy troops will be happy to see their comrades, who they had assumed were lost in battle.

If the Infiltration Arachnids are able to gain entry to the enemy forward operating base, firebase, or other such camp, they will always attempt to seek out high-ranking officers or other high-value targets and open fire.  The creatures do have a powerful self-preservation instinct, unlike most other arachnids, but they will gladly give their lives in order to inflict as much damage as they possibly can, especially when it comes to the chain of command, or if they cannot find officers or other high-value targets, they will do what they can to wipe out other soldiers or destroy as much as they can when it comes to the enemy weapons and equipment.
