The similarities between this and the SH-B1 Plasma Saw are undeniable. Both were designed to be used for construction, demolition, mining, and Ship-Breaker field.

The device itself is very heavy and difficult to handle, and as such was often attached to augmented miner powered armor, which proved to be very useful, relying on the power provided by the armor itself instead of an internal power source. An odd factor in the design of the device was the usage of near absolute zero freezing techniques to prevent the monofilament blade from overheating, and it was discovered that this added to the cutting power of the weapon.

When not in use, the monofilament blade retracts into the weapon itself, closing a tough outer shell over it to prevent accidental dismemberment if transported improperly.

After the various Xeno-necro outbreaks across the known systems, many of the survivors found that this device made an excellent weapon in combating the undead horrors, especially when they got within hand-to-hand range. It was discovered that this weapon was an excellent device to use against the larger Xeno-necro, tearing through their hardened skeletal armor like a knife through butter.
