Special Abilities

Fast Breed (Ex): The creature can be given direct orders from a thinker to breed faster than it normally would. As such the creature can produce up to 48 eggs in a 24 hour period. This is hazardous to the breeder and is only undertaken during the most dire of circumstances. Any breeder forced into this role must make a fort save, DC based on how many eggs it must produce. 12 – no save required. 24 eggs, Fort DC 12; 36 eggs, Fort DC 16; 48 eggs, Fort DC 20. If the save fails, then the breeder dies from exhaustion.

Hardened Survivor (Ex): The Breeder is completely immune to poisons and radiation, and it is able to withstand extreme conditions, even utter vacuum. Whenever the beast must make a saving Fortitude saving throw when dealing with environmental conditions, it gains a +10.

This type of the arachnid is essential for the species to not only survive, but to spread across the galaxy and ensure that they always have enough soldiers in their wars. The breeder arachnid is quite large, looking very much like an ant or termite queen. The head is very similar to all other arachnids, and it has a set of four claws, although it can only employ two for defending itself.

The creatures are very timid, and if given a chance, they will flee at the first sign of potential trouble. They rely heavily on all other types of arachnids for their survival and to be defended. Like most of the arachnid species, these creatures are utterly mindless, and cannot think beyond basic instinct to survive, feed, and lay eggs.

When not forced to over-produce, the breeders can create and lay an egg once every 2 hours, or 12 eggs in a single day. This is as long as they are provided with enough organic material (the bodies of those who have been killed in battle, be it arachnid or other, will do just fine.) If not enough food is provided for the creatures, they will not be able to produce the required output of eggs.

All the eggs provided by these creatures are essentially ‘neutral’. They need to be ‘programmed’ by a specialized type of Arachnid called a chooser, which will inject a series of hormons and DNA viruses which will determine the type of Arachnid the egg will end up producing.
