Mental Mutation Drawback: Combat Paralysis

Chris Van Deelen

Combat Paralysis (drawback)

Type: Mental

Frequency: Very common

Power Score: Yes

Range: Personal

Duration: Permanent

AI Recognition: None

Damage: None

Uses: Constant

Combat is very stressful and mutants with this drawback rarely survive for long. Whenever a mutant enters physical combat, the mutation causes the body to enter a state much like that the body enters during sleep, paralysing the mutant. To prevent this, the mutant must make a saving throw versus death with a negative equal to the power score modifier (negatives will give a bonus!) or become paralysed for a number of rounds equal to 1/3rd (rounded down). During this period, they are incapable of making any physical attack, but will still retain their AC (but Dexterity will not provide any bonuses), and other defensive abilities. However, if the mutant possesses any form of mental attack, they will be capable of using it unless the attack requires physical action.
