Mental Mutation: Alter Physical State

Chris Van Deelen

Alter Physical State

Type: Mental

Frequency: Rare

Power Score: Yes

Range: Touch

Duration: Permanent

AI Recognition: None

Damage: See description

Uses: Three plus power score modifier per day

By using this mutation, the mutant is able alter the physical state of matter without altering its temperature the way it would be done when one changes water from liquid to solid or to gas.  For example, it could cause stone to become liquid, and as such could create an opening in a stone wall.  The amount of material which can be altered by this method is equal to three times the power score in pounds. This mutation can only affect inanimate objects, or anything that does not have a life-force. It can be used on robotic units and artifacts!  If used against a robotic unit, the unit will suffer 5d6 plus five time the power score modifier (negatives will detract!) points of damage. If used against an artifact and the item weighs less than the total amount of material the mutant can affect, it is allowed a saving throw versus acid. If the save fails, the item is destroyed. If the item weighs more than the total amount of matter the mutant can alter, it will suffer 1d3 points of condition damage instead. Any alteration to a substance is permanent. It can be reversed however, using the same mutation.
