Computer Issues and Some Mutants

I haven't been around ever since my computer started making some rather ghastly noises, which I have not been able to identify. So it may be a bit longer until I can post some proper blog posts. In the mean time, here are some mutants I created by looking through the 1e Monster Manual and using the Gamma World 4e (as in 1992) mutation list. I will post more if there is any interest.

3 axebeak species.

The first one has gas generation (burning), immunity to gas attacks, skin structural change (albino), photosynthetic skin and transfusion (healing others).

So this large bird is a forest dweller that avoids direct sunlight by staying in the heavily shaded areas. It is a predator that brings down prey from the branches with its gas attack (which doesn't affect plants), yet can survive without any food in times of need. In fact droughts harm their populations much more than a lack of prey. Their immunity makes them a thorn in the side of green dragons. As does their ability to heal each other- one reason they are found in large herds.

The second has skeletal enhancement, heightened sense (touch), chameleon power, body change (antennae) and oversized limbs.

This flying plains dweller usually hunts on the ground. Its body changes color to the surrounding grass, though its bright orange antennae prevent it from hiding from those with color vision. It has a ram attack that does double damage and occasionally flies and crashes into prey as its skeleton prevents most damage. Even though it can't see through the grass, this bird can sense changes in airflow with its sensitive skin, thus detecting motion upwind.

The third has body change (odd skin color), photodependant, regeneration, energy reflection (electricity), air sail and multiple limbs (4 legs).

This dinural species can glide but rarely has a chance to do so living on flat plains. It is purple and visible from long distances. Though it is a fast runner with 4 legs, the bird does have one defensive feature when it encounters something faster- it can drop its hind legs like a lizard. This slows them, but leaves behind a lot of meat that most predators are happy with. And the legs regrow, just like most of the bird's organs (regeneration is powerful as long as the bird lives).

A trio of giant beaver mutants.

The first has total carapace and body change (transparent skin).

This well armored species has skin, fur and shell that are transparent. This forces it to stay underwater as much as possible on sunny days. It is as vulnerable to light attacks as fungi (some 1e light spells do additional damage to fungus).

The second has skeletal enhancement, poor respiration, sonar and immunity to poison.

This beaver lives down stream from major cities as it can survive the pollution easily. It uses sonar to navigate turbid waters and detect potential predators above and below the surface of the water. It can not hold its breath for long and must surface every 5 minutes or so. It is hunted for its pelt and iron hard bones.

The third has ultravision, anti-life leech, electrical generation, radiating eyes and shapechange. I decided that anti-life leech works against level drain and aging and radiating eyes is replaced with positive energy.

This species lives in undead infested lands as it is well protected from their typical attacks. It can harm the undead easily with its eye rays and in fact preys on them, both as food and raw materials for its dam. When hunting, the beaver changes into a giant eagle, making long hunting trips easy. If something living attacks them, the beaver's fur has a strong electrical charge, enough to badly hurt or kill most creatures. This species is nocturnal because it sees better at night, though this isn't much of an advantage when dealing with undead.
