Special Abilities
Acid blood (Ex) The blood of the Xenomorph is highly acidic. Whenever it bleeds, the blood will burn through almost any substance and will cause 1d4+1 points of damage. The blood will continue to burn for 1d6 rounds, causing damage each round. Attacking the Xenomorph with natural weapons is a very poor idea as the target automatically suffers the acid blood damage if they are using slashing or piercing attacks.
Acid Splash (Ex) Whenever the Xenomorph is hit by any type of attack which deals more than 10 points of damage in a single strike, the blood will have a chance to effect anyone near. The acid splash has a radius of 10 ft. and those caught in the area of effect are allowed a Ref save (DC 10) to avoid taking damage. If the save fails, the victim will suffer 1d4+1 points of damage per round, for 1d6 rounds.
Cling (Ex) The Xenomorph is able to move its full speed along any surface.
Grab (Ex) When the Xenomorph happens to be within range of a hive, it will often attempt to grab and drag a victim back to the hive to be cocooned and impregnated. The creature must make a successful grapple attack (surpass the targets KAC +13). If it succeeds, the creature will then drag the victim back to the hive to be used as a host. The victim can attempt to break free while grappled, requiring a successful escape (using the acrobatics skill). If the victim turns out to be ‘troublesome’ the creature can opt to bite in order to make the target more ‘compliant’.
Inner Jaw (Ex) Possessing an additional ‘jaw’ the creature can opt to use this attack. It typically will use this on a grappled target, or it can opt to use this in addition to the bite. The bite does slightly less damage (1d6+5 S) but is more accurate. The creature has a +11 with this particular attack, and if the target is grappled, then the bonus is +14.
Stalker (Ex) The Xenomorph is a near-perfect predator. As such it gains a +5 racial bonus to stealth rolls, and whenever the creature is in a hive, this bonus increases to +10
Vulnerability to fire (Ex) The creature has few vulnerabilities, and fire is one. Whenever it encounters fire, the creature will take an additional 50% damage (rounded to nearest) and suffer a -4 to any saving throws involving fire.
A creature out of nightmares, this creature is a pure predator. It has been described as the perfect life-form. It is pure - A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.
The creature is the final stage in a rather complex life-cycle. It starts out as a large, leathery egg, which will hatch and release a parasite. The parasite will seek out humanoid hosts in order to attack, subdue and implant an embryo into the hosts chest. After an indeterminate time, sometimes only a few hours to several days, the embryo will grow and eventually erupt from the chest of the host, killing them in the process. The newly born creature then attempts to hide and find food, allowing it to grow to a full-sized drone in a matter of hours.
It is a hunter and a killer. If it is near a hive, it will typically attempt to grab hosts to drag back to the hive to continue the lifecycle. If it is solitary, the creature usually just goes for the kill, taking out victims for food; although it is rumored the creature will occasionally capture humans and through some unknown process, cause the victim to metamorphosis into an egg. This has never been documented, but at least one survivor who encountered the creature says it has happened.
How long the creature can survive is left to pure speculation. There are those who believe the creature lives only for a few weeks, just long enough to capture enough hosts to bring the next generation to life, while there are legends of creatures having been discovered in a state of hibernation for thousands upon thousands of years, having killed off all prey on an ancient colony.
The Xenomorph appears as a tall (6-7 ft.) black, insect-like humanoid. The body is covered by a strong exoskeleton and possesses a long, spiked tail. There are strange ‘spikes’ or ‘snorkel’ like appendages growing from the spine of the creature and the head is elongated. There are no visible eyes, although it has been discovered at least one variant of the creature has a clear, dome-like covering, from which can be seen what looks like a humanoid skull. There are empty eye-sockets visible behind the dome. The creature has long, talon fingers on both hands and a spike on the back of each heel.
Each creature possesses only animal intelligence, and it appears to act entirely on instinct, although once again rumors abound how the creature, especially if alone, will often ‘play’ with its victims – tormenting them and terrifying them before it makes its attack.
Because of its lack of intelligence, the creature cannot be reasoned with, nor can it be communicated with. Typically the Xenomorphs are silent, although they will hiss and growl when they encounter a potential host – or victim. They do scream when they are injured or when they are destroyed.
The creature has been encountered numerous times over the centuries, and many variations of the Xenomorph have been encountered – everything from the basic drone, to the queen, Praetorian, King, and many other types. No one is sure if the Xenomorph evolved naturally, or if it is the end result of genetic engineering or had been created as a biological weapon.
One thing is for certain – when the creature is encountered, death is always close at hand.
