Practical Magic: Golden Silence
It is said a picture is worth a thousand words but silence is golden. For those willing take take a vow of silence empowered by divine magic, this can indeed be the case.
As the song says, let's get literal, literal. It is said a picture is worth a thousand words but silence is golden. For those willing take take a vow of silence empowered by divine magic, this can indeed be the case.
GOLDEN SILENCE
School conjuration (creation); Level cleric 2, paladin 2, Inquisitor 3
Casting Time 5 minutes
Components V, S, DF
Range touch
Target one creature touched that is capable of speach
Effect variable amount of gold
Duration permanent until discharged
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes
You lead your target - which can be yourself - in a five minutes of prayer followed by the swearing of a temporary vow of silence. The longer the target goes without breaking this vow, the greater the spell's effect when discharged. This spell is discharged by any act that violates the vow of silence (e.g. no speaking, singing, whistling, or making any other sounds with the mouth). When discharged, the first words to come out of the target's mouth are miraculously transformed into liquid gold. This gold is cool to the touch and quickly solidifies into easily worked nuggets. The exact value of the gold is 1gp per full day the vow of silence was kept.
If the target is subjected to intense physical or mental stress that might cause them to break their vow (e.g., torture, an insult to their honor, enduring great pain, etc.), they must make a Will save vs the DC of this spell to maintain the vow. Should the target become physically incapable of speech, this spell is immediately discharged to no effect.
