You know what I don't like about oozes? It's not the way they engulf people and dissolve their flesh. It's how damned wet they are. Well, wet oozes won't be a problem after a quick casting of dehydrate ooze, a practical spell that reduces even the most stubborn ooze into a shriveled, plastic lump.

DEHYDRATE OOZE

School transmutation; Level alchemist 3, sorcerer/wizard 4

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M (a pinch of salt)

Range 15 ft.

Target one ooze

Duration permanent (D) (see text)

Saving Throw Fortitude negates; Spell Resistance yes

This spell removes all the moisture from an ooze, reducing it to a shriveled, inert, fist-sized lump of rubbery matter. This perfectly preserves the ooze, which can be restored to its original form and composition by splashing it with a gallon of water. It takes one full round for an ooze to fully rehydrate. Dehydrated oozes can be stored and rehydrated later, but one must take care to store the dry ooze in a waterproof container lest accidental exposure to moisture causes it to rehydrate in an inconvenient place and time.

This spell has no effect on a oozes with hit dice in excess of your caster level.
