Casting badberry makes 2d4 freshly picked berries magical. You (as well as any other druid, ranger, or witch of 3rd or higher level) can immediately discern which berries are affected. Each transmuted berry provides nourishment as if it were a normal meal for a Medium creature. However, 1d4 hours after an affected berry is consumed, the consumer must make a Fortitude save. On a successful save, the consumer is sickened for 1d4 hours, but may attempt another Fortitude save at the beginning of each successive hour to end this effect early. If the initial Fortitude save fails, the consumer is staggered for 1d4 rounds, at the end of which the badberry exits his system (determine the badberry's escape route randomly) along with eveything else the consumer has eaten in the past day, and all nutritional benefits for eating the badberry are lost.
Badberries can be baked into pastries, pies, compotes, and any other fruit-based foodstuffs without loosing their sickening properties. If a creature can be made to consume more than one badberry at a time, the consumer takes a -1 penalty on the Fortitude save for each additional berry consumed.
The Fortitude save for badberry is considered a save vs. poison for the purposes of feats and class abilities regarding poisons.
