Two Projects Completed, One Article On the Go, and More
Welcome to another weekly episode of my usual thoughts, rants, reviews and of course update on my various projects.
First I would like to announce that after all these months the last work has been completed on my Harvesting Book and submitted to Michael Varhola. The book is 109 pages long and 50,000 words, so I don’t really know what the final word count is going to be once it is formatted and edited.
Still I am very happy to have that off my plate! Also I finished making the last edits on my Nanotech Undead issue of Wisdom from the Wastelands. I finished it quite some time ago, but sadly my editor for that series had to resign and no longer will be editing the work. I am pretty disappointed about this, and wish him nothing but the best in all his future endeavors.
Still, that issue has been likewise sent to Michael Varhola, but I have no idea when it will finally hit the digital shelves.
Speaking of, the really great news about the new WftW size is that they will be printed out and eventually be for sale at Amazon (I think! I could be wrong about that), and should be available for purchase at our booth at Comicpalooza next year.
Right now I am working on writing up the Eight Immortals from Chinese mythology to be used in one of our issues of D-Infinity. I have written up 3 of them and hope to finish off the remaining 5 by this time next week and get it off to Michael.
After that, I will be returning to the Weapons and Combat compilation of my Wisdom from the Wastelands issues. I’m also thinking of adding Issue 1 and the Artifact Quality issue to this book, simply because both really do fit with what I am working on.
Since you already know that I am looking forward to getting my hands on Fallout 4 in the next two days, you can expect that I will be making conversions from that game and adding them to the book as well.
As always, Friday night saw the latest addition of my epic PA novel Buck Who?. Chapter 42 was posted on time and is available for your reading pleasure. Nearly every week for the past couple of weeks I have mentioned how I have only 2-3 chapters left to write. I REALLY hope that is the case this time. I think I can wrap up the last major scene this week and then the final chapter will be essentially the epilog.
One thing is for certain. Any of my readers who have been following it will discover that Chapter 45 on will have quite the body count. I am finally getting around to killing off characters.
So you’ve been warned. Heheh…
Due to the work I have been doing on the Eight Immortals and other projects, I have not been able to do any mutant conversions over the past week. I hope that once I am finished with the current article I will be able to go back to adding 1-4 or more per week.
I have been able to continue with the creatures for my series New Mutant Monday however. I wrote up two just an hour ago, and they will be going up tomorrow. I will say that I am pleased with one creature, as it grossed me out and gave me the willies. It was inspired by a picture that I saw several times on FaceBook and finally managed to track it down.
So check out the site tomorrow morning to see what this image have wrought.
Otherwise, last week I posted two bugs for your MF or Gamma World campaign The Heel Fly and the Gargantuan Water Beetle.
This week saw the release of 100 oddities for a Graveyard, and it actually managed to hit #1 on the Top 100 Small Press over at DrivethruRPG, and even made it as low as #4 on the hottest selling list!
Way to go guys!
I need to help contribute to those as well. I see that they need about another 50 on the Oddities for Cryonic chamber, so I should start adding to that list.
Also Thursday the podcast for this week covered Underwater Adventures. As usual, it is worth your time and effort to watch.
Last night my wife and I watched a rather well done film called ‘The Machine’. It is an excellent tale of man’s search for AI and the results of their work. As always I can’t go into too much detail about it, without giving away too much in the way of spoilers.
I will say this however, and I hope it does not spoil things too much. I really liked how the android was portrayed in the movie and the lengths it went to.
Also I finished season 5 of the Clone Wars this week. The last eight episodes involving Mandalor, Darth Maul and his brother, and then the story arc involving Asoka and her being framed for a crime were some of the best writing I have seen in the series. Loved it!
And have any of you managed to see the second International trailer for The Force Awakens and the first TV spot? If not, well thanks to me you can. Just click on the links I provided!
Of course my regular readers also know how much of a nerd I am, and I had to purchase Finn’s jacket. I will be dressing up as him for the movie. Yes I purchased my tickets but could not get regular tickets for Friday (unless I wanted to be in the front row, which I did not!). Check out the link I provided for the jacket. Great price too! Now all I need are a pair of black cargo pants and I’m golden.
Since I missed the past couple of weeks when it comes to books I have read, I’ll take care of that now. I finished the second novel in Craig DeLouis zombie style series called The Killing Floor. I found it to be a little more entertaining that the first novel, and it gave a pretty good description of exactly what the infection was all about. Yeah, if you enjoy zombie novels, it is worth your time to pick up and read it. Expect at least one of the creatures in the two books to be converted and posted on the site in the very near future.
The week before I finished the second novel in Jack Campbells new Steampunk series The Pillars of Reality. This novel is called The Hidden Masters of Marandur. You need to understand I am FAR from being a fan of the genre. The closest I have come to liking the genre was both Avatar series, especially the Legend of Korra. Otherwise I will not bother with it.
I do like Jack Campbell’s writing though. I am a huge fan of his Lost Fleet series and the spin-offs. It is a shame that he is taking a break from writing it, but I can’t say I blame him. He’s written a total of like 11 books in that universe!
I digress. This book revealed more of the history of the land and the roles the two main characters are to play in shaping its future. Very well written and I have to say that I do like the characters, which is something. I have the third book in my que to listen to and I will get around to it eventually.
And that’s it for this week. It is Remembrance Day for us in Canada and I hope that you will all take some time on the 11th to remember the brave men and women who gave everything to ensure that we have the freedom we enjoy today.
