Free Thinkers, Cross-Overs, White Star, Star Wars and a Few Other Topics
A little late, but better than never, right? Welcome to one of the last couple of blogs I’ll be putting together for this year. By this time next week I’ll have had a chance to watch the newest Star Wars movie and hopefully I’ll be feeling the way I did way back in 77.
This week saw the completion of another short story, as well as work on yet another, and I ended up doing the edits for the last chapter as well as the epilogue for Buck Who? And of course Chapter 47 went up on Friday night as it should.
I wonder how it’s gonna feel once I post the epilogue on Friday?
The usual topics of course – two mutants went up last Monday, and even though I was late getting this blog up, I will still post the two that I wrote up and posted today in next Sunday’s blog.
But for now, here are the two from last week – Konchu Monkey and Skull Spider. I hope that you happen to be a fan of the strange chimera’s that have been popping up online for many a month now – one of my readers sent me a list of images that he would like to see me write up.
Well, who am I to let my readers down?
And I also posted several new conversions this week as well – Carnivorous Grubs, Mire Lurker Queen, Puppeteer and Troll. Believe it or not you might be surprised as to the source of the last conversion – it wasn’t that cheesy horror movie from the 80’s!
There will be more monsters coming from Fallout, and of course more from various sources. I have had a few requests so I will be attempting to do a new Fallout creature and at least one of the requests per week, on top of the other nasty monsters that I feel deserve to be written up.
The work on the compilation and new material weapons book is continuing, with about 15 new non-lethal type weapons. That could have been an issue onto itself, but due to the size of the new e-zine… well, at least it’ll be published in a massive book!
And after picking up and going through the White Star OSR RPG, all the material I have written is easily used for that game! Another new market, sweet!
The boys had another Podcast on Thursday and talked all about hacking. I don’t think we’re going to see any for the next few weeks, since Christmas and New Year’s eve both fall on a Thursday. It’s a pity, since I would have been available both days to participate!
Nothing new to report when it comes to new releases, but now that Michael is back from his trip to Africa, I do believe that is about to change.
I managed to finish off one book this week – The Vastalimi Gambit by Steve Perry. It’s the second in his series about a mercenary band and the adventures they embark upon, this one dealing the only Vastalmi in the company as she investigates a strange disease that has no known cure on her home-world. I found that I really am enjoying the characters and this series is growing on me.
I finally finished off The Clone Wars Season 6. A shorter season and it really did not wrap up anything in the series. Still, it’s good to be finally finished and now I can get around to watching something new.
Nothing new on the RPG front – I might have some new material to discuss after Christmas, since that is when I’m hoping I’ll have a few new books, but we shall see what happens.
Have any of you seen the new trailer for X-men Apocalypse? There are people who got seriously giddy about this. I was just left with a feeling of ‘meh’. Too bad about that. I will be watching it for sure, but I hope that my reaction will be a lot more positive!
How about Independence Day: Resurgence? Now THIS movie has me excited! When I first heard about it, again it was a matter of ‘meh’, but now that we have a trailer available to watch, I’m getting all excited!
Last week I brought up my thoughts on Fan Fiction… something I should also mention is that with very few exceptions, Fan Fiction cross-overs should simply not happen. A few have worked, most have not.
Alien Vs. Predator, anyone? That worked.
Dr. Who and Pokemon? No, not a chance.
And don’t get me started on what I think is termed ‘slash’ fiction, where two characters of the same sex get involved with gay sex with each other.
Hey whatever turns your crank, but let’s not go there, okay? Straight characters going gay, and in some cases with relatives? Eww!
And one last little rant…
Earlier this week I saw a post about a preacher who told a gay author 'I pray that you will commit suicide'.
And people wonder why I hate religion so much and refuse to accept any organized religion.
Well, simply put, people who practice such blatant hatred are the ones responsible.
They're causing believers or potential converts to look again and realize that they want nothing to do with assholes like that.
Give me people who live and let live and don't try to force their views down my throat.
And I'm still a free thinker.
Hail Satan.
Some you will understand that reference, others won't. For those who don’t, I saw a post regarding a church in the states that had a sign stating that free thinkers are Satan’s slaves.
Sorry the only person who controls me in my life is my wife. No church ever will, I will always question things if I think they’re wrong. After all, that’s what free thinking is all about.
So that’s it.
Oh and my extremely talented friend Alfonso Maesa has the first character concept of my main characters from Buck Who? That's Declan Starret gracing the cover image.
Have a great week people!
