Father’s Day & Summer Solstice, Belt Test, and the Usual News
First, happy pop’s day to all my readers who happen to be fathers. It is never easy to be a parent, and you have far too many choices and decisions to make when it comes to raising your kids. You can only hope to make the right choices in the end and have a child you can be proud of.
I was a very hard man on my son. He was never handed a thing, he had to work for everything he wanted. He had to learn the value of a buck, and more importantly, he had to understand discipline.
Unlike a lot of other parents, my son never did anything to embarrass me. He did not get into trouble with the law, steal, and cause serious issues, nothing along that line. He also never got into drinking or drugs, thank Christ.
The result is my son is now working two jobs while going to school. He’s got his career waiting and he’s going to continue to make myself and my wife proud.
He’s doing so well in his class he’s graduating a month early and is on the honor roll. He also bounces at a club in the south end of the city for extra cash. I did not approve of that, but it has the advantage he gets the need to fight out of his system and it keeps him out of the military.
Also, welcome to the first day of summer! I hope that my readers who are spending time with their fathers are enjoying the weather. Here is has been raining off and on, so that might wreck the plans many people might have had when it came to their dad’s. No matter what, I hope people were able to enjoy their days.
This week kept me training pretty hard on Monday and Wednesday. I typically manage to sneak in an hour a day for extra writing, which has been devoted to a couple of stories the past few weeks.
Not this week.
See, I have been training Shaolin Kung Fu for seven years. I have never been in a serious rush to get my latest belt, I’ve always wanted to work hard and learn the techniques before I took the next step.
Thursday was a hell of a test for me. Exhausting like you wouldn’t believe, or maybe if you have trained as I have, you would. Five and a half hours and I passed on Thursday night. So tomorrow, I will get my brown belt.
I could try to get my black in a few months, as all I need to do is learn a couple of forms. The thing is, I am in no rush. When I’m ready, I will know it.
Still, this latest step in my journey has been worth all the pain and exhaustion I felt. I can hardly wait until tomorrow evening now.
So, enough when it comes to personal matters.
No matter what happens, tomorrow I will be working on one of my various sourcebooks. I’m sort of leaning towards the mutation books, now that I have additional sources to use, but I’m also thinking about the Powered Armor book… well the harvest book as well, since they are all fairly close to being finished.
I’ve been putting it off far too long and time is short. I need to get several of these books finished and sent off to Mike so hopefully we can get them into production and I’ll be able to sign copies next year at Comicpalooza.
My SF epic, Buck Who? Continues to grow. Chapter 22 went up on Friday and I’ll begin work on chapter 25 tomorrow.
Instead of only two mutants, I posted three this week. The reason was that they all had one thing in common – they were all mutant spiders of one sort or another. So I posted the Chip-Spider, the Flyder and the Rattle-webbers.
Tomorrow two more will be posted, and anyone who has read Chapter 22 will recognize both.
Oh, and for those of you who have been waiting for as long as I have, Fallout 4 is to be released on November 10th! I was half expecting it to be that date in 2016, so to have it released so soon after the announcement is a very pleasant surprise.
For those of you who have apple products, you can play a cute little game called Fallout Shelter. It puts you in the role of an overseer and you have to design staff and care for your Vault. I found it a little difficult at first, but in time you’ll get the hang of it.
I don’t know how many more weeks I can continue with my top five list. I’m starting to run out of ideas! So this week I posted my Top Five B Movies. I’m quite sure there are a few on this list you have not seen, so why not check it out and look these fine films up?
I managed to finish another short anthology by my favorite author, Jonathan Maberry. This one was called Tales from the Fire Zone. A nice little eclectic group of stories, including a PI who has to deal with a woman’s ex who wants to kill her. One supernatural story with Watson and Holmes, and several more. All were entertaining and showcase his ability to write in different genres.
I still haven’t had a chance to read over the Ultimate Psionics book, but that will be coming eventually.
Okay, time for a little rant.
What the hell is wrong with so many people online? I won’t deny it, I have a thing for women. I love the female form and can appreciate it for all its beauty. Yes, that means I like to look at nudes and well-crafted artwork. I even like pictures or images that do not show any nudity at all, but hint at it.
My rant is this. What the fuck is wrong with the idiots that post masturbating sounds? Seriously people, grow the hell up. Do you honestly think anyone is impressed with that sort of shit? All it does, in my opinion, is make you look like a complete and utter idiot!
Wait, I just answered my own question. Only idiots or people with the maturity of a prepubescent boy would post shit like that.
Grow up, assholes…
And on that pleasant note, that’s it for this week. As usual, please follow me on Facebook. I would like my FB page to actually grow! It hasn’t seen much of an increase over the year, not unlike my Twitter account, which has been growing slowly but steadily.
Until next Sunday… Peace!
