As adequate as the Stryker M2 series of armor was, when dealing with the Arachnid (and other similar forces), too many soldiers were lost in combat. Research led to the birth of the M1 series of powered armor, and although bulky and clunky, it provided better protection than the Stryker M2 series of armor, and often would augment the wearers natural strength.

Depending on the model, the suit can mount one or more weapon systems, and  has the flexibility of ever-increasing numbers of upgrades that can be added.

The heavy plates of the armor have been upgraded with the same composites and fiber weaves to protect against the slashing and piercing attacks of the Arachnids and other insectile races that the Mobile Infantry have encountered. As such the armor comes with an automatic Damage reduction towards slashing and piercing attacks equal to 1.5 times the armors level.

The suits are fully enclosed, making them usable even in the vacuum of space, and can protect the wearer against inhaled gases and other similar toxins, and render the wearer immune to the effects of all but hard radiation.
