These Human Mutants appear to be very attractive Pure Human or Human (see Wisdom from the Wastelands issue 4: New Races for more information) women.  They all possess pale skin and red hair, although the shade of the hair varies from woman to woman. Their eyes are a bright ruby-red, which marks them as mutants.

They tend to live rich lives, occasionally alone, but more often than not in larger communities. The majority of these mutants are simply content to go about their business, however there is a small percentage of these Human Mutants, which like to get involved in political circles, and to become the ‘power behind the throne’. They do not wish to rule openly, but instead manipulate and control any male rulers that they can manage to persuade with their wile and charms.

One trait that both types have in common is the desire to amass wealth and live comfortably. Those who desire power and control do this by selling their unique abilities, which allows them to see into the future, using flames.

They are able to use this unique form of precognition once per day, and it allows them to specifically see the various potential outcomes of a specific action that will occur within no more than four weeks’ time. The only thing is that they must be staring into a flame in order to see the events. What they predict will have a 75% chance of actually taking place, although when it fails to happen as they predict, they are very adept in explaining exactly why, and always put the blame on the person or persons who asked for the prediction.

No matter their motivations, they do tend to be quite wealthy and even those who do not desire to be the ‘power behind the throne’ they tend to hire and retain bodyguards or even use robotic units to help protect them and their homes.

Personality wise, they are always haughty and downright arrogant. But what really sets them apart is that they are very conscious of their looks. This makes them very vain and they will only use the most expensive or at least expensive looking clothing to try and highlight their physical beauty. One other quirk is that they always have to have something red, be it their entire ensemble of clothing or just simple jewellery or even polish for their nails or makeup.

When it comes to bartering or trading, these mutants almost always come out on top. Some believe that it is because of their personal charm and charisma, but in reality they are able to subconsciously read tell-tale signs that the person they are dealing with does not even realize they are projecting. It is just another one of their mutations that allow them to have the upper hand.

They are highly intelligent and are fully cognizant when it comes to their surroundings and the people. They often see things that others do not, or at least that is the impression that they portray. When it comes down to it they tend to notice the smallest detail that most other people would overlook or not see the real significance in it.

When it comes to reproduction, they will only mate with Pure Humans or Humans, and can sense Human Mutants. The gestation period for these creatures is the same as a human, with one exception. They are able to choose the sex of their child upon conception. They can choose to have a female offspring, and in that case the gestation period is the same as a human. However, if they so desire, they can choose that their offspring will instead be male, and the gestation period is only three days.

The males are known as ‘Shadowspawn’ and these creatures are very short lived, and are utterly loyal to their mothers for that short period of time. They act as thieves, assassins, spies and so forth for their mothers, up until when they die.

No matter what, they never mate for long. Their personalities tend to drive off most would-be suitors sooner or later. These mutants do not really care, as long as they are able to live in the life-style which they have grown accustom to.

When they do choose to have female offspring, they often leave the father shortly after the girl is born, (or simply use a male once and then discard him, never to have anything to do with them again). Their daughters live with them until after they reach puberty, at which point the mother gives her a portion of her accumulated wealth and then turns her out of her home and her community in order to find her own community to live in.

These Mutant Humans are also highly charismatic and intelligent, and are fully capable of using all manner of artifacts, although they tend to use more esoteric items or artifacts that have no visible effect if they can help it. This adds to the mystique surrounding them and many of the more primitive folk believe that they are magical creatures and should not be crossed in any manner.

When forced into combat, they will use any weapon that they possess, but more often than not will use bodyguards or their male ‘offspring’ to protect them. They loath getting directly involved in combat, which they find is beneath them.

Also these mutants are quite territorial and do not like to have others of their own kind living near. If another one of their own kind (as long as it is not their direct offspring) come into their community, they will politely ask the interloper to leave. If the other does not do as asked, a turf war will break out, with both using their hirelings or male offspring to kill the other, with the winner taking over the home and wealth of the other.
