Skirmisher Publishing LLC is pleased to formally announce that it will be attending Comicpalooza 2012 and that it will have a major presence at what has quickly become one of the largest and most exciting conventions in the Southwest (see “'Amazing' Comicpalooza 2011 a Hit with Fans”). This major pop culture convention will be held May 25-27 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
Among other things, Skirmisher has signed on to be a sponsor of the convention, will be running a dozen events at it, and will be running a booth in its exhibit hall.
Events Skirmisher is organizing for Comicpalooza will include multiple compelling seminars, a number of role-playing game scenarios, at least one game tournament, a huge ongoing miniatures game, and various table-top games.
As things stand now, Comicpalooza will be Skirmisher’s major event in 2012 and it will be attending it instead of Gen Con and diverting to the Texas convention all the resources it would otherwise have devoted to the Indianapolis one.
“This is a terrific con and we were very impressed with it when we attended in May 2011,” said Skirmisher publisher Michael O. Varhola. “And it is just such a terrific coincidence that we incorporated in May 2002! So, Comicpalooza is going to be a big party for us, and we are going to try to make it one for all our fans and friends as well by sponsoring a big mixer, giving away lots of free product, and several other things we are just now starting to talk about.”
Skirmisher is also planning to release at Comicpalooza 2012 print editions of several major publications currently in production, including its Six Gun Horror weird West supplement forCthulhu Live and the self-standing Interplanetary RPG, which promises to be it biggest new product of the last several years.
“This convention is just such a good fit for us in any number of ways,” Varhola said. “I can see how it is going to be increasingly attractive to potential exhibitors and attendees throughout Texas, Florida, and all of the surrounding states. Companies in particular ought to at least think about scouting it out in 2012, and maybe even providing prize support so as to get their names associated with it.”
