Starfinder: Plaguer
These small reptilian creatures appear almost to be miniature dragons, but they are not draconic in nature. They are semi-intelligent flying reptiles which are found in many warm and tropical locations. The average specimen is about 2-3 feet in length, and has a long tail easily twice as long as the creature itself. This tail tapers to a pointed tip. The coloration always tends to match the environment they live in. They have bright, inquisitive eyes and their chirps and trilling sounds quite pleasing to the ear. The tail is easily twice as long as the creature itself.
It has been rumoured that these little creatures are the result of either genetic engineering or arcane tampering, as they are always carrying a deadly toxin and disease. Touching the creature will not transmit the disease, it can only affect others by using a dragon-like breath. This breath is invisible to the naked eye, and often those affected by it will not realize anything has happened until it is too late.
They are not inherently evil, but if they are threatened or frightened, they will use their breath instinctively.
There are those who do use these creatures as a form of biological weapon, sending them off to where they will be encountered, unleashing a potential pandemic. More nefarious types often genetically modify these little creatures, infecting them with different types of disease, even magical types such as the horrific and dreaded mummy rot.
