‘City Builder’ Platinum Edition Kickstarter Update #8: ‘Hermitage’ Unlocked!
Day eight of our Kickstarter campaign for a "Platinum Edition" of Skirmisher Publishing’s City Builder: A Guide to Designing Communities continued to move along steadily and, a little after noon on day nine, we unlocked a new Stretch Goal!
* When we hit $11,000 we unlocked the Hermitage, a new religious place that original City Builder author Michael O. Varhola will write. From hollow trees, rough caves, and lonely ruins, to neat woodland cottages, places used to shelter and nurture a spiritual environment for religious ascetics might be either deliberately visited or stumbled upon by characters in the course of their explorations.
“In 2015, while hiking through the highlands of Ethiopia I made a mini-pilgrimage up to a place of this sort, where I met with the resident monk and was permitted to view some of the relics he was responsible for,” Varhola said. “That experience gave me some insights that I will be tapping into for my writeup on this sort of place.”
* When we hit $12,000 we will unlock the Laundry, a new service place that author and game developer Clint Staples will write. Characters who have to look their best and rid themselves of dust from the road or the blood of their foes are among those who might need to visit laundries. Such places can also serve as places for interesting encounters and adventures, and, according to Staples, are “a venue for assignations, spy craft and other things as much as a place to get your unmentionables cleaned.”
Thanks to everyone who has come on board with this project and helped bring it this far! Please also tell your friends why they should come on board with it as well and help us get out the word about it so we can take it as far as possible for you and all its other supporters.
