Work, Pod casts, Far Cry 3, Google +1, and addressing a review
It’s been a couple of weeks now since my last blog, so it’s about time I write about my work.
First and foremost, it’s been lacking! There is a good reason however, and that’s because the last few days in the Philippines were filled with last minute visits and trying to make sure that everything we needed to accomplish was, in fact, accomplished.
I didn’t have any time to work on my various MF projects.
Now that I’m back home in the Great White North, I find that I’m looking for a new job. Believe me, this is not a major issue, unlike some other countries. It could take a few days, it could take a few months, but either way, it won’t be long until I’m once again working.
First, I would like to address the first review for Wisdom from the Wastelands issue 24: Weapons Modifications that was released earlier this week. It was an excellent review and the author made her points quite clear.
I guess she didn’t give me a 5 star review because she wanted to see rules on hand-loading for the various types of ammunition that I wrote up for the game. When writing the article, I made the assumption that whenever a ML used the varying types of ammo, that it would be typically found in a mutant’s hoard or maybe used against the PC’s by various critters or wasteland warlords. I didn’t think of the characters actually making the ammunition themselves.
That could be something for me to work on, maybe as a freebee for the forums. In fact, as I type this, I’m already thinking of how ammunition was dealt with in Fallout: New Vegas, and I may just go that route.
Keep watching the forums in the next couple of weeks in that case.
Also, two of my Wisdom from the Wasteland issues that will be coming out in the next several months deal with Nanotechnology, and the rules covering this could easily be used to create ammunition as well.
Speaking of, my work that is in the queue is as follows: Nanotechnology, drugs, radiation, and the third weapons issue.
On Thursday, I participated in my second podcast for Skirmisher. I talked briefly about my trip to the Philippines, as well as the book I wrote for Skirmisher back in 2010, during my last trip there.
At that time I also discussed the work that I am doing for EMA (powered armor) and Robots, which includes rules for mental combat for robots, AKA hacking. Also, I am still going to work on the Faction book, but that one is kind of kicking my ass. Reason is quiet simple, I feel that it is lacking! Hopefully as I continue to add material to it, I’ll find the inspiration to write what I feel is lacking, once I put my finger on exactly what that is.
When it comes to writing, I fully plan on getting back to work on both of these projects later this week.
But hunting for work takes priority!
Changing the subject briefly, I have been playing Far Cry 3. In many aspects, this game could almost be considered post-apocalyptic in nature. A small group of friends are vacationing in the South Pacific and are captured by pirates on a large island. One escapes and has to go about rescuing his brother and his friends. The character has to explore the island, capture pirate outposts, and deal with hostile and deadly wildlife. Weapons, drugs, and crafting abound, as well as finding lost relics and WW2 era letters. I would say that the game should appeal to those who loved the Fallout series.
Sadly, I haven’t had any real inspiration to use for my work on MF, but the game is a great deal of fun, especially if you are a fan of the first person shooter genre.
One last thing I want to bring up, and it was something that I talked about briefly during the ‘last word’ segment of D-infinity live…
What the HELL is wrong with my fellow bloggers and readers on the site? Currently on the Skirmisher site there are ELEVEN bloggers.
So, why are there not ELEVEN +1’s on each and every single blog, MINIMUM?
It takes but a minute to sign up and start using the +1 system. It helps not only the individual blog, but the company overall, and since we all write and work for the company, why wouldn’t you want to help yourself, your fellow writers and the company? The more books that are sold, the more money is made.
If you don’t want to do this, just damned well come out and say it instead of making up lame, stupid sounding excuses. It makes you look bad when you do that!
You know who you are, and you should feel ashamed of yourself as a result.
If you don’t like what I’m saying, too damned bad.
Deal with it.
That particular rant is over.
Anyhow, that’s all that I wanted to discuss for this blog, so everyone take care, stay warm and be happy.
Peace.
