Some Things Never Change

Facepalming-3.jpg

Here we go!

As you might have surmised from the title of this blog, it's pretty much the same old, same old. A few reviews, a brief update on what I've got planned, and a little rant.

Seriously - some things never change. So here is what you've all come to expect.

That vague announcement from last week, I’ve had a little time to think about what I’m going to do and I’ve come up with a pretty good plot. It’s just going to take time to get it written.

Speaking of writing, I had hoped to finish that short story two weeks ago, the one called ‘Failure’ but I’ve had trouble finding the time to take lunch at work, and as such I haven’t been able to write as much as I would like. Out of nearly 14 days, I’ve only been able to write two days!

I’ll do my best to change that as of tomorrow. The story is just over 4000 words, and it’s nearly done. For those of you who are familiar with Ronnath and Cheonsa, the story involves them. And it will contain spoilers for another story I have yet to write.

And I still want to finish that untitled Star Wars story!

As usual I’ve been thinking about the completed mutation books. I have to make a few changes in the Plant book, and if I can find the time either this week or on the weekend, I will need a few hours to cut material from it before I send it off to Mike.

Sooner I do that, the sooner I can send him the Physical and Mental mutation books and hopefully sometime in 2017 they will be available.

Anyhow, as you might have grown used to, I have backed another on Kickstarter this week called Nectar.

Frankly it’s getting ridiculous! I have to stop checking out games on Kickstarter, or I’ll bankrupt myself. Well, at the very least I won’t be able to upgrade my computer as I would like.

I did a calculation and Monday, October 31st is the last day I will be posting three entries in my weekly New Mutant Monday series. At that point I will be caught up enough to be able to go back to two entries a week, which will carry me through until the end of the year, at which point I will start in on series three.

I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to go for a theme next year, which might be plants and Psionic mutants, which are two types of creations I don’t cover very often in my work.

We shall see.

Last week’s creations are as follows – Puffer Tails, Wiziars, and Concrelizards.

As I did last week, this week I will have a little rant about something. I’m going briefly talk about the political situation in the USA right now. Other than seeing a ton of posts about Donald Trump and Clinton, I have seen a mixture of other posts, with the most common one being ‘get rid of Obama’.

Those of you who are friends of mine on Facebook will already know about this, but I’m going to state it here again.

To all the brain-dead sheeple who keep demanding to get Obama out of office… Are you fucking stupid? Or are you just one of those ‘special’ kind of stupid people who makes the intelligent folks around the world do epic face-palms?

He’s done in the New Year! When the next dictator for the rigged election takes power, be it the first female president who is a known criminal, or a fucked up failure of a businessman with an ego the size of the galaxy, who happens to be buddies with the Russians!

President Obama is finished.

I don’t know if those allegations are true, but it’s what I’ve seen on various newsfeeds.

Christ on a Crutch, these idiots are probably the same fools who believe that Obama is running for a third term.

GROW

A

BRAIN!

And enough with the scare tactics that WW3 is about to begin. Seriously, enough. I had plenty of tension and fear living in the 80’s at the height of the cold war.

ENOUGH!

With that being said, onto other things.

Seems that Eric Lis, the gentleman responsible for Insults and Injuries is finally finished with his weekly blog. He’s been consistent for a couple of years now, and so it’s kind of sad to see a fella who has contributed so many blogs finish.

Good luck on your future endeavors!

Last week I finished another couple of books. First was The Remaining: Refugee’s. This is the third book in the series, and I still can’t help but be reminded of the old Morrow Project RPG with the way it was set up, but it’s not a bad thing. Instead of zombies, you have infected, living people who act like zombies.

This book delves more into the infected, and answers a mystery around them, and without spoilers brings up a new series of questions. It also deals more with the whole government organization and the men who are involved, and two of the survivors in Harper’s encampment make a play.

As you can plainly see, I don’t like to give out spoilers. I’ve already added book four to my wish list, and I have really enjoyed this series so far.

Another book I finished, although I wasn’t all that taken by it was Deadeye: The Mutant Files book one by William Dietz. This is about a detective who happens to be partnered with a mutant in order to track down the daughter of a powerful man. Yes I’m being vague again. The book gives a little background into a virus which killed about half the world’s population and many it did not kill it mutated.

Add in a serial killer who only targets cops and you have the beginning of a new series.

I was not all that impressed. I’ll probably continue with it, but this book did not catch or hold my interest, not the way his Legion of the Damned novels did.

Finally I finished the fifth book of the Pillars of Reality series by Jack Campbell called Servants of the Storm. There is but one last book to read and then I’m finished with this series, unless the author decides to continue with a new series which continues the adventures of the main characters, kind of like he did with the Lost Fleet – Beyond the Frontier.

Mari’s forces continue to grow and she has to lead a dangerous expedition in order to retrieve something which will prove to be invaluable in the impending conflict with the two great guilds.

I have to admit I am tempted to read the final book, but I have 31 novels on my to read list, so I need to trim it down somewhat!

And that’s it for this week.

It certainly has grown cold fast here in Calgary, and I guess that’s what we get for enjoying spring a month early.

Oh yeah! 60 days until Rogue One: A Star Wars tail hits the theaters. I’ve already booked the day off.

Keep that in mind as you trudge your way towards the election.

Until next week,

Stay happy, stay warm and stay safe!
