Power Armor, Indexes, and More!

Another week has passed and as usual I’ve kept myself quite busy. As I typically do with each blog, I will talk about ‘Sword of Kos: Dark Inheritance’ first. Although it has been submitted to Michael Varhola for his first edit, last week I did finish the edits that he requested.

At least I attempted to finish them. Heh, I know that sounds bad but despite spending about six hours making the changes he requested, I know that he will end up coming across some of the changes that I missed.

Still that is about six hours less work he’s going to have to put into the book once he finds the time to start working on it. He’s far busier than I am!

During the week after I completed the tasks he requested I got back to work on the bonus material I have promised for my issues of Wisdom from the Wasteland. I was trying to come up with some new material that would be of interest for Nanotechnology 1, and came up with the idea for varying quality nanotech.

After I finished writing it up, this new optional rule turned out to be one of the longest bonus content articles I have written thus far. I ended up doing the modifiers for all the various types of nanotechnology that appeared in all three issues.

As for issue 30, I am still working on that one. It will contain several new types of nanotech, whereas issue 31, I can promise that I will include at least two or more ‘converted’ monsters for my readers.

Finally once the bonus material for these issues has been completed and posted I will get around to adding some new material for issue 33: Drugs.

Even though I had promised myself that I would work on the various issues for WftW as soon as I finished the work on ‘Dark Inheritance’, I ended up writing the first two thousand words on the first of four short stories that I will be using to promote my novel. This story is entitled ‘Reunion’ and involves Master Farthis and an old love.

I’m going to do whatever I can to resist the temptation to write this story over the upcoming weeks, as I really want to concentrate on a couple more issues of WftW.

Talk about a near panic attack! Last January, while we were in the Philippines, I started work on three rather massive books. I’ve mentioned these before – Powered Armor, Robotic rules and Factions. All told these books totaled around 50,000 words worth of work.

I could not find the files!  I hunted everywhere – various flash drives, my main computer and so forth.

Finally I found all the files on the hard-drive of my decade old laptop. Talk about relief! I’ve made sure to store these files in several different locations to prevent this from happening again.

Now that I have the files I’ll be going back to work on them. They will be significantly smaller than the three mutation books but I am hoping that my readers will enjoy the work and the effort that I have put into them.

Sure – Powered Armor is a staple of most Science Fiction (Starship Troopers, Star Force, Etc) and are treasured items to discover in post-apocalyptic games, but they have always been very… I don’t know, I guess vanilla is the best word to describe them. Sure they are powerful and can deal death and destruction on an unimaginable scale, but a man like me likes options!

So with my Powered Armor book I have come up with a huge number of options – everything from different types of material from which the armor was created to accessories and equipment, plus a large number of rules.

I do believe that I will be working on this book once I have submitted several more issues of WftW to Greg for editing. He has the two issues for Radiation (which will be coming out in February and March) and then I’ll have to look through all the issues that I have nearly complete and see what I want to publish next.

Those will be a pain in the ass when it comes to creating bonus content for! And I can’t shirk my duties and just ignore them; I will have to create the content.

For those who are interested, a large number of fans of Gamma World worked quite diligently together and created a MASSIVE Gamma World book that uses the Pathfinder rules. It is 433 pages in length and is absolutely free!

You’re welcome. =)

One of my dreams is to see all the work that I have done so far converted and put up for sale under Pathfinder rules. But this is a massive and extremely time consuming venture and I don’t know if it will ever come to pass.

Just converting all the mutants that I have posted for free would take around six months (if I was working at converting one per day).

The conversions and reposts continue to come along quite well. Over the past two weeks I have added six converted monsters from the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.  Still have a long way to go though.

Going back to my WftW, I have updated the Wisdom from the Wasteland Index once again, since Derek Holland’s latest issue – Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue 34: Plant Mutants 1 was released this week. Not only did I update the index, but I also added the links to all the bonus material that I created for my issues.

I do believe that will be of interest to some of my readers.

One more thing that my readers can look forward to over the next couple of weeks is that I am going to take the various treasure charts from the Mutant Future core book and update them with the various pieces of technology that I have created in my various issues of WftW.

And as a parting note, I will be participating in this week’s D-Infinity Live podcast. Every third Thursday of the month our studio cannot get the room we usually train in due to overbooking, and this is the one day that I will do what I can to join the podcast and dazzle everyone with my wit and wisdom.

Or just baffle the crap out of the viewers. Heh.

Peace and I hope that the beginning of 2014 is going wonderfully for you!
