Minions! Zodiak Station! And the Usual Drek

minions.jpg

Welcome to another week of the same old, same old. I really do wish I could come up with something different to add to my blog, but at this juncture, it just isn’t in the cards. So you can expect the usual topics and comments from me as always.

Work on the Harvesting book is progressing, although slow. Using the tables I created and calculating the prices for the various materials is incredibly time-consuming. If I am lucky, I can finish a page a day, typically less though due to my hectic life!

So I’ll just keep plugging along with the book and once it’s done, it’s done.

As I have been for the past 26 weeks, Buck Who? Chapter 26 was posted on Friday night. I still intend on wrapping up this current story as soon as possible, but that could be another dozen chapters. Who knows, when I start writing, my books tend to have a mind of their own.

Two new mutants were posted this week. Tanks, a nasty mutant badger, and the Dreagle, a creature that was requested by one of the readers on the Gamma World online Facebook page.

Yes, two more will be posted tomorrow, both inspired by pictures posted on the very same Facebook page.

When (if) I find the time I need to go over the various flora found along the coast and the beach. I need to add more mutant plants. When you consider that plant life outnumbers fauna by such a huge ratio, it only makes sense that there would be more creatures. I don’t know why I haven’t written more plant critters, maybe it’s because I find plants to be boring? Might as well be honest!

And yes, I do take requests. If there is some sort of mutant creature you would like to see, send me a brief description or even a picture and I’ll put my twisted mind to work and see what sort of critter I can come up with.

Yesterday my wife and I went to see ‘Minions’. I have to admit that I live the little freaks – they are one of the best parts of the Despicable Me movies. Just like the penguins, they stole the show and were finally blessed with a movie of their own.

It was cute, very cute. It made me laugh a few times and overall it was 90 minutes well spent. Am I inspired to write these little fella’s up for my movie and entertainment series of monsters? Maybe, but certainly not at the moment. We shall see.

This leads up to a trailer for a post-apocalyptic movie called Extinction. I saw the trailer for this earlier this week, and it’s supposed to be hitting the theaters this summer. I am intrigued and would like to see this flick. It also helps that Matthew Fox is the lead star and I just so happen to enjoy his work.

Have any of my readers seen the full trailer for ‘Fear The Walking Dead’? Now I am interested, I want to see how the whole rising begins and how quickly society falls apart!  I have high hopes it will be as entertaining as the Walking Dead.

The comics have been running for a long time now, and I recently picked up and read issue 144. I won’t give anything away, but with this issue the story took a very, VERY nasty turn for the worse. It all has to do with another group of survivors Rick and his people encountered, but these survivors are unlike any they have ever encountered in the past.

No spoilers for you folks! Just go and pick up the comics and read them.

This week’s novel is one I’ve had on my iPod for quite a while. A murder mystery thriller called Zodiac Station, set in the Arctic. Nearly everyone at this remote scientific base is killed, with only a handful of survivors. Who is responsible and why did they destroy it. Do their deaths have anything to do with an oil company drilling for something other than oil? Could it have something to do with rumors of Russians testing a new type of radar?

It was intriguing and kept me second-guessing what was happening and I found the characters to be quite engaging. The ending was satisfying as well.

I’m not entirely sure what book I’m going to listen to this week. The only thing I can say with any certainty is the next one will be one of the numerous books I’ve been sitting on for many months or longer.

Last week I mentioned the Dungeon Crawl Classic RPG. I also mentioned that it used dice that did not exist. As it turns out I was mistaken. You can purchase the dice it uses online and can more than likely get them from your local game store.

Even though I should have spent the time writing and working on the Harvesting book, I needed to take a break and play some video games. I chose to play Dead Rising 3.

Tons of zombie killing goodness!  There is also the combining items to create newer and nastier weapons, and you can do the same with vehicles. Will I steal from this game? Probably, but not anytime soon.

Other projects that I would like to work on involve diseases from science fiction, new poisons, and drugs. I have found several massive sources online and would really love to start – but I have to finish all the other projects I’ve started first.

No more new projects until I have completed the others.

And that is it for this week. Please like my personal author page on Facebook and follow me on Twitter.

Although gaining new followers on Twitter has not been an issue. I’ve gained over 120 this week alone, but odds are quite high I will end up unfollowing at least twenty of them – they’re sending me requests on a daily basis to answer research questions. Always the exact same request. Also several want me to retweet posts of theirs.

Ain’t going to happen.

So if I lose them, I don’t give a shit. I’ll end up dumping all of them soon anyhow.

And that’s it for my little rant.

Until next Sunday, peace!
