Four Books, Three More Almost Finished, Star Fleet Battles, and the Last Ship

The way things are going I will have quite a few books with Michael Varhola over the next few months. Right now he has Wisdom from the Wastelands issue 52: Nanotech Undead, the novel ‘Dark Inheritance’, the harvesting book, and finally the monk magical items book.

By the end of the month he will have the completed compiled weapons book for Wisdom from the Wastelands, as well as 104 creatures for New Mutant Monday.

Then I will be concentrating on finishing the Power Armor and Robot books while I’m in the Philippines, and finally after that the Mutation book. Oh and lets not forget the Conversions, which once it hits 300 mutant monsters I will be doing some additional work and finally submitting the master file to Mike!

For those of you who have been following my blog for the past two years, you will have heard about the various projects that I have on the go. I can say that finally the majority of these projects will be submitted in the next few months.

Been a long time coming, and of course once they have been sent, then I have two more that I am considering working on. A book on factions also known as Cryptic Alliances for you old School Gamma world fans, and probably a book devoted to equipment and tech.

There you have it.

This is the first week in over a year that I have not published a new chapter or story. I wanted to edit and post a story I call ‘Forsaken Soul’ but with all the work I put into catching up on New Mutant Monday, and then running around yesterday, I just did not have the time. Here is hoping next weekend!

As always I did post critters for New Mutant Monday. Four of them to be precise. I’ll be posting four more tomorrow and then the final four next Monday.

No – once the mutants are finished that is not the end of it. I’ll start Season 2 of New Mutant Monday the following week, with two entries per week. My goal is for as long as I am writing for Skirmisher, I hope to have an ‘annual’ with 104 mutants per year – and I REALLY hope in time for Comicpalooza!

This week’s entries are the Cattiphant, Corras, Gremlin and Microcephalians. Yes one is a chimera, one was inspired by an image a friend posted, and the other was inspired by the unfortunate victims of the Zika virus.

Also this week I posted several new conversions as well! I wrote up the stats and background for Chupacabra, Bigfoot, Vampire Ray, Infector Zombie, and the Burrower.

By this time I have to be closing in on 290 creatures converted. If I have to pull out the Alien and Predator conversions, that will remove about 15 entries. I really don’t know if I want them in the book or not. I’ll have to talk to Michael about that. I believe he will be of the same mindset as I am, and not to bother.

Saturday night I took the time to go see a movie with my friend and Sifu Terry. We caught Ip Man 3, starring Donny Yen. Great action, so-so plot, and it was great to see so many of the things I have learned from my Sifu show up on the big screen. You don’t need fancy kicks when a simple snap-kick will suffice, and the whole Wing Chun fighting style for close in combat was demonstrated inside and elevator.

If you enjoy marital arts, catch it!

No new books to review this week. I’ve been really busy at my job and did not have the time to finish the book I’m currently listening to. Next week I’ll be able to discuss it.

My wife and I DID finish season 2 of ‘The Last Ship’. I mentioned this series last year after my wife and I finished the first season. I really enjoyed the first season, which the overall story revolved around Captain Chandler and the crew of the Nathan James looking for a cure for the plague that has killed billions, all the while staying one step ahead of a Russian captain bent on sinking them and taking the scientists so they can control the research and cure.

Season 2 involves a radical group of people who are naturally immune to the virus trying to reshape the world for immunes only, making it look like the Nathan James and her crew are the bad guys.

Great action, loved it, and can hardly wait for season 3 to air.

Not sure what we’re going to watch next.

So last week I wrote about an old game called Car Wars. This week I’m going to bring up another old game that I tried to get into but was barely able to do so.

Star Fleet Battles.

This game has been out since I was still in grade school and is so incredibly complex it blows the mind! Despite that I did try to play the game, but found very few players in Regina. I did manage to get into a few games, and when I did play I had a lot of fun, but damn you almost need to go to school to learn how to play the game.

Even with that issue, I always admired how much material was produced for the game. New Races, books of ships, brand new rules, all manner of supplements including campaign books. I know the game has a massive following to this day and there are times I wish I could get back into it, but you all know my issues – I’m just too damn busy!

I also know that the game is not canon and I do recall that there were problems years ago with it, but to this day I don’t know the full details, and honestly I don’t care. I’m just glad that the game has continued to be published to this very day!

And that’s it for this week folks. As always please like my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, and check out my Fanfiction account!

Hope you all enjoyed Superbowl Sunday! I know I didn’t. =)
