Mutant Future Creatures- the Lump Slug Family

Here is a family of creatures based on a group of animals that most people don't know exist. Lamp shells are one of the abundant marine creatures that could survive the cataclysm and start new lines of mutants. There are 12 species in this family listed below. I used the ideas from  Creatures of the Wastelands: Mutational Evolution  and Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #2: Monsters That Improve with Age  to design these creatures.

Lump slugs are mutant lamp shells. They are masses of muscle tissue with four tentacles. Two are for grasping and killing prey (ie they constrict) and two for ripping and consuming. The shell has been retained and can be found deep inside the mass. In fact the shell contains the core organs of the animal. If the outer, "second flesh" is slain, the shell closes and the animal goes dormant. If the shell is placed in water, both fresh and salt, it opens and the animal adapts as it grows a new outer flesh mass. A lump slug can survive in hibernation for up to 80 years and adults die from age after 50 or so. The age chart is not for the animal as a whole but rather its second flesh.

Found in and near freshwater, lake lump slugs constantly emit an electrical charge. Their grasping tentacles have become wings and this species has expanded its range to most of the globe. During the spring, females release a keromone that induces true slugs and snails to watch over her eggs. If the mollusk is poisonous, the lump slug boosts this toxin by 2d6 points of damage. The enhancement lasts only as long as the mollusk is near the lump slug.
