Mire Lurker Kings are the males of the Mire Lurker mutant species. These creatures have a far more humanoid appearance than the female Mire Lurkers (which make up the majority of those encountered).

Physically, they are slightly taller than the females, although weigh significantly less. They usually stand about 6’ in height and weigh only around 175 pounds.

They are faster and far more agile than the others of their species but as a result, they are not quite as heavily armoured as the females.

In combat, these mutants will always first attack any opponents with a sonic scream. They will then close and engage any targets that threaten them, their lairs or their egg clusters in hand-to-hand combat. Where the female use two pincers in combat, the claws of the males are far sharper and deadlier, causing nasty wounds.

Like the females of the species, the males require radiation to survive, although only a low level. As a result, they are also immune to the harmful effects of up to and including level 2 radiation. Unlike the females, they are not susceptible to the effects of fresh water and can move about in it freely without suffering any ill effects.

These creatures are far more intelligent than the females and have been observed using artifacts, weapons and tools, and even though they make their lairs with the females, they always have separate chambers away from the others where they store artifacts and treasure that they may have taken from those who have encroached upon their territory.

They have also been known to on the occasion converse with other creatures, always using the local common or trade languages. However those who have spoken to the males say that it is often difficult to understand them, as the way they speak sounds almost as if they were talking under water.

As with the females, the flesh of the males has the same properties as that of the eggs, and thus as a result is highly sought after.
