These mutants are not actually a separate species. They are in fact the offspring or ‘eggs’ that are produced by the Biomass mutant. These creatures come from pods and are released into the world, where they will travel in search of reactors that produce radiation (which is what they need to transform into biomasses).

Physically these creatures appear as a two foot diameter glowing globe of organic material that pulses with a life of its own. It is warm to the touch (if anyone is able to get close enough to do so) and mildly radioactive. Anyone coming within 5' of the creature is subject to class 1 radiation.

While hunting the creature will react to any creature that comes within 20 feet by releasing a powerful thermal pulse. This pulse will cause 3d6 points of damage to anyone or anything that is in the blast radius.

Destroying one of these creatures is exceedingly hazardous in its own right. Since the biomass uses these as a defensive weapon as well, when it is reduced to zero hit-points, it explodes. The blast covers 20 feet and does 5d6 damage, but they are filled with acid, and when they burst, they emit a burst of class 5 radiation that will linger for 3d6 days. This radiation only affects the 20 foot burst radius. The acid does 3d6 damage (victims can save versus poison for no damage, as they manage to avoid being hit), and reduces by 1d6 damage per round. Any artifacts that are caught in the acid must save versus death or lose 1d3 condition levels, or if the ML has access to Wisdom from the Wasteland issue 1, the artifacts must save versus acid.

These creatures are only semi-intelligent and travel via psionic flight . They have a specialized sense that will allow them to detect any source of radiation within ten miles of its location. As with the biomass, it must be noted that these creatures even if they are attracted to a massive radiation contaminated location, they will ignore it to find a permanent source, they will only bond and grow into a biomass on an actual reactor of some sort.

Many sources of radiation are locked away behind sold matter such as doors or hidden deep beneath the surface. This will not stop the creature from reaching its target, as it is able to become insubstantial and it will pass through any solid matter to reach its goal. It cannot pass through any sort of energy field such as a force-field.

No matter the source, the creature will then home in on it. As stated if it is not a reactor, they will continue to search. If it is any sort of operating reactor, the creature will then settle upon it and begin a metamorphosis into a biomass. This will take 3d3 days to complete. Once it has finished the metamorphosis, it
