It is said that this creature was originally discovered off-world, by the various exploration vessels sent into the cosmos before the beginnings of the final wars.

When viewed, the monster looks like a mass of tentacles attached to a misshapen body. There is a single large, blue-white eye in the center of the body and a large opening just beneath that glows a terrifying crimson and is likewise filled with smaller tentacles. It emits a constant roar, which can be very disconcerting and anyone hearing it must make a saving throw versus death or suffer -1 to hit, saving throws and -1 per dice damage as long as the creature is still living.

The creature is said to attack and take over ships, using its powerful psionic abilities to quickly incapacitate the crew. First it has an area of effect fear mutation, which has a radius of 500 feet. All victims in the area of effect must make a saving throw versus energy or be paralyzed by fear for 4d6 rounds. During this time, the creature will then use a form of possession, allowing it to take over the mind of a victim, causing it to drop any weapons it may be carrying, and then to run into the monster’s waiting, writhing tentacles.

The tentacles will wrap around the victim causing 1d4 points of damage, and have a range of 30 feet. Each round the creature will attack with 2d4 tentacles – attempting to grapple. The monster has Strength of 14 and for each tentacle that hits, the Strength of the grapple is increased by +2. After the target has been successfully grappled, it will pull the victim into it the opening just beneath the writing tentacles. The victim is instantly killed, and on the following round the desiccated corpse, nothing more than bones held together in leathery flesh and clothing, will be ejected.

As it turns out the beast is completely immune to all types of energy attacks, including mental attacks, but is vulnerable to physical weapons, such as melee and projectile weaponry.

It now haunts abandoned spacecraft and those who have managed to find their way to the surface always hide deep in ancient ruins, surrounded by man-made corridors and structures. It is never found in the wild, but for some reason is always attracted to ruins that are rich in high-technology. The only indication that a ruin might contain one or more of these beasts are the corpses that have been left behind, as it never appears until living beings are present. It will then use its plane shift mutation to appear and attack. Those in the know will realize that they are in terrible danger once the winds begin and a swirling cloud of light will appear out of nowhere, spinning for 1d4 rounds until the creature emerges into this plane of existence.
