Citizen of Kos (d20/Pathfinder Feat Chain)

Michael O. Varhola

Following are three d20/Pathfinder Feats that I created specifically for use with Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting . They can also be used as a model for similar Feats in other campaign settings. The intent is that they would be given as bonus Feats to characters of any classes in the milieu who meet the prerequisites.

Citizen of Kos (Level 1)
A character with this feat has all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of a permanent resident of a community on the island of Kos.

Prerequisite: Born or naturalized on Kos; see below.

Benefit: A first-level Citizen of Kos can use the skill Knowledge (Local) untrained in the immediate area of Kos island in which he lives (e.g., the village of Kefalos, the slum district in the city of Kos) and receives a +2 bonus on such checks. He also receives a +1 bonus on any d20 rolls used to adjudicate legal proceedings or the like in which he is involved.

Special: Characters will not generally take this as one of their feats and instead receive it either as a bonus for being born in either Kos City or one of the 12 major villages on the island, or have it granted to them as a result of naturalization or service to the nation-state.

Citizen of Kos (Level 2)
A character with this feat has undertaken some of the responsibilities incumbent upon a permanent resident of a community on the island of Kos.

Prerequisite: Citizen of Kos (Level 1), member of a Koan militia, guard, or military organization.

Benefit: When leading or adventuring with characters of a lower level than himself who are also citizens of Kos, a second-level Citizen of Kos bestows a morale bonus of +1 on their attack rolls and any checks to resist fear-based effects. He also receives a +2 bonus on Knowledge (Local) checks pertaining to the island overall and on any d20 rolls used to adjudicate legal proceedings or the like in which he is involved.

Citizen of Kos (Level 3)
A character with this feat has undertaken many of the responsibilities incumbent upon a permanent resident of a community on the island of Kos.

Prerequisite: Citizen of Kos (Level 2), served at least a year in one or more elected or appointed civil positions.

Benefit: A third-level Citizen of Kos receives a +2 bonus on any Charisma-based skill checks or ability scores made on the island of Kos with regard to other citizens, officials, or those who should be impressed with his status (e.g., foreign diplomats). He also receives a +3 bonus on Knowledge (Local) checks pertaining to the island overall and on any d20 rolls used to adjudicate legal proceedings or the like in which he is involved.
