Beastmen is a bit of a misnomer. These mutant humans, although appearing quite bestial, are really highly intelligent and very social creatures. In fact, their intelligence rivals even the greatest of the minds that existed before the final wars.

These mutants, even the females are stocky and powerfully built. They all have a slight simian appearance to them, but clearly they don’t suffer any real disadvantage from this drawback. Most stand between 5-8’ in height and weigh, depending on the height between 300 and 700 pounds.

All members of this particular mutant genome are extremely strong, and possess incredible constitutions that allow them to withstand punishment that would kill most other mutants, and have dexterity that would put a cat to shame.

To compliment this is their incredible intellect. Not a single member of the race would be considered average; they all surpass this level by leaps and bounds. As a result, they are often sought out by others for advice, knowledge, or are hired as teachers and scholars; even more are hired to figure out artifacts and how to repair them.

Despite their imposing physiques and strength, the Beastmen are quite the pacifists. They don’t believe in violence and will go out of their way to avoid it at all costs - but if they are forced to fight, those who push the issue rarely ever live to regret it.

Not only are their natural weapons highly effective, but also their communities have ample artifact weapons and equipment at their disposal. Because of their intellect and affinity for technology, it isn’t uncommon to see one of these mutants to use modified artifact armour when going into combat. To attack a Beastmen community is tantamount to suicide.

These mutants live in communities that they either built from the ground up or are actual ruins that the people have gone out of their way to rebuild to their former glory. All communities are high tech in nature and look like something that came out of a picture book of what life was before the end of civilization. Many even possess a multitude of vehicles to use as well.

These mutant humans are very long lived, although they are not immortal, but it isn’t uncommon to find one that is well into his or her second century of life. They also go through several metamorphic stages as they grow.

First, the females aren’t fertile until they reach their third or even forth decade. When they do become pregnant, the gestation period is about 15 months, almost twice as long as that of normal humans or other mutant humans. The young are born completely hairless and look like pure human children.
