Far more common than the Giant Fire Ant warriors, the workers are the backbone of each hive that is scattered across the globe. They make up approximately 80% of the hive’s number and when found out in the wastelands, are always escorted by warriors.

The workers are significantly smaller than the warriors and rely on warriors to protect them while they go about their assigned tasks of gathering food or maintaining the hive. They stand only about a foot at the shoulder and are about only three feet in length, and weigh in at a paltry 100 pounds.

Even though they are smaller and significantly weaker than the warriors, if cornered or forced to fight, and their numbers will make all the difference. Unlike the warriors however, the workers can’t spray fire.

Like the warriors, the workers have the same deep crimson colored exoskeleton but it is nowhere near as tough. Also like the warriors, the workers can sense vibration and see into the infrared spectrum and they can detect chemicals.

If their antenna are ever damaged, just like the warriors, the workers will go into a frenzy, attacking anything nearby, even their own hive-mates.

Lastly, the meat of the worker ant is not only tasty and quite nutritious, but would confer resistance to thermal attacks for a short period of time. In game terms, this gives the consumer a damage resistance of 10 for 24 plus 4d6 hours.

Mutations: Gigantism, thermal vision, unique senses (chemical sense and vibration sense)
